“The time promised by God has come at last!” he announced. “The Kingdom of God is near! Repent of your sins and believe the Good News!” Mark 1:15
But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins. Romans 3:21-25
He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. Colossians 1:13-14
The Bible teaches that we are to…
• Repent of our sin: Acknowledge to God our commitment to turn from our sin and embrace obedience to Him.
• Confess our sin to God: Agree with God that we are a sinner.
• Believe in Jesus: We place our faith or trust in Christ as we verbally confess that we are trusting Christ to save us.
• Submit to Him: Pledge your life and allegiance to Jesus.
The Meaning of Believe
• Intellectual Consent: To believe in the Bible can mean mentally agreeing with something. The idea is, “I believe what you are saying.” This does not represent acceptance, just understanding. Thus, to say, “I have always believed in God” is a statement of mental consent only. It is not equivalent to saving faith.
• Trust: This use of the word in the Bible is represented by the words “believe”, “faith,” and/or “trust.” It means to not only accept as true but to actively place your trust in that belief. Thus, to say, “I believe in Christ” is to say I have placed my trust or faith in hope for forgiveness and new life.
